NGC Customers Bringing Invaluable Support to COVID-19 EffortsApril 15, 2020
As the COVID-19 crisis continues throughout America and abroad, the daily news coverage has been inundated with negativity. During these tough times, it is important to find positive inspiration to keep spirits lifted as the world continues to fight the coronavirus together. At NGC, our clients are making us proud with stories of resilience and empathy. We’ve been sharing them on social media using the hashtag #NGCProudMoment, but we wanted to highlight them in more detail here. We’re finding it essential to provide stories of hope amongst all the fear.
Patagonia and Carter’s Prioritize Employee Stability
Stay-at-home orders are now issued in 41 states, with more expected to follow. These safety precautions have led to an increase in unemployment for Americans who work in the retail industry. However, some of our exceptional customers like Patagonia have committed to paying their employees full compensation throughout the closure period. Carter’s is also promising to honor benefits to all employees nationwide during the store shutdowns. These efforts are truly providing some peace of mind to their beloved employees.
Jockey, Wrangler and Bella + Canvas Are Mitigating the PPE Shortage
A survey of over 200 US mayors revealed that 88% of cities reported inadequate supplies of personal protective equipment including masks, gowns and gloves. To combat this shortage, companies nationwide are offering their time, money and machinery to the global effort. Our customer Jockey has pledged 10,000 N95 masks and 10,000 Level 1 surgical masks for their local fire department and 30,000-50,000 isolation gowns a week for national distribution. Similarly, Wrangler’s parent Kontoor Brands has begun production on 50,000 patient gowns and 10,000 disposable isolation gowns for clinicians in North Carolina hospitals.
In recent days, the CDC has recommended that everyone should wear a cloth mask when they leave the house, a statement that threatens to increase the magnitude of the PPE shortage if consumers buy the wrong type of mask. Our customer Bella + Canvas responded by producing 100M fabric masks with a new, no-sew, no-touch design every week until the crisis is under control. These selfless donations of much-needed supplies will save lives and protect our courageous healthcare professionals, first responders and other essential workers.
Every Dollar Counts Thanks to Fabletics, Spanx and the PVH Foundation
Other companies are aiding in the global fight by donating to COVID-19 relief organizations. The highly anticipated release of the latest Fabletics athleisure line, in collaboration with singer Demi Lovato, will include a donation of $5 from every item sold.
Additionally, the PVH Foundation is committing one million dollars to COVID-19 response funds, while Spanx is encouraging female entrepreneurs in the wake of the coronavirus by alleviating financial needs for new-businesses through five million dollars’ worth of grants. As the economy navigates the impacts of mass shutdowns, these generous donations are honorable and will make a tremendous impact in our communities.
NGC Can Help You Adjust Priorities with Ease
Shifting focus within production to allow for donations of supplies or funds can be difficult, but the beneficial and global implications of such selfless acts are undoubtedly worthwhile.
