“Demand and Deliver”: What Retailers Can Learn at the AAFA Executive Summit 2019

March 11, 2019

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) represents more than 1,000 world famous name brands as the trusted public policy and political voice of the industry. In this capacity, AAFA consistently provides retail, apparel, footwear, and fashion accessory brands with expertise and support in the midst of an ever-changing environment. At its annual Executive Summit, the organization will bring together senior level executives for thought-provoking dialogue and networking on March 13-15 in National Harbor, Maryland.

The AAFA Executive Summit is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year for NGC, and we’re proud to be a 2019 sponsor. This year, the summit’s theme is “Demand and Deliver.” The topic is well-suited to the challenges that apparel and footwear brands and retailers face: understanding exactly what consumers want, then delivering it in a way that delights the customers and builds long-term, loyal relationships.

Digital drives demand predictions

Aligning demand with the actual products that fashion retailers deliver is critical. Overproducing an item will result in overstocks, markdowns and lower profits, while underproducing leads to out-of-stocks, frustrated customers and missed sales opportunities. While fluctuations in consumer demand are inevitable, real-time visibility allows retailers to quickly adapt to changes and take advantage of opportunities. At the summit, industry experts from leading brands, including Patagonia, will testify to technology’s crucial role in reacting quickly to constantly changing demand signals.

Optimized delivery produces loyal customers

Digitization is the key to unlocking a more connected, responsive supply chain where information moves freely and delivery is optimized. With a digital supply chain in place, retailers and brands can deliver on their central mission of getting the best products to the customer faster.

NGC encourages digital transformation as one of this year’s AAFA Sponsors

Today, the best and brightest companies are following the “demand and deliver” mantra, relying on digitization as the foundation of this strategy. As retailers and brands start to cultivate an understanding of what it means to digitally transform their business, NGC is proud to work with companies to implement digital supply chain strategies that help them thrive in retail’s new environment.

NGC President Mark Burstein will be a featured speaker at the summit. At 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, he will host a session titled, “Leaders Circle: The Cognitive Supply Chain.” He will dive into the challenges retailers and brands face when balancing supply and demand. Regarding 2019 as the year of the cognitive supply chain, Burstein will explain how a faster, more intelligent supply chain can overcome current limitations such as complex concept-to-customer processes, disparate information sources and too much lag time in decision making.

The AAFA Executive Summit 2019 is the ideal event to explore new ideas, hear fresh insights, and gain inspiration that will move your business forward. NGC is excited to sponsor this year’s AAFA Executive Summit, and we look forward to seeing you there.
