With an Eye on the Future, NGC Celebrates 35 Years of InnovationFebruary 16, 2017
NGC reaches a major milestone this year, as we celebrate our 35th anniversary as a company. Like all milestones, this one was cause for celebration and reflection – and as we reflect on NGC’s first 35 years, one word keeps coming to mind: Innovation.
When Alan Brooks founded NGC in 1982 in a corner of his apparel distribution center in Miami, he saw a need to create software that addressed the unique needs of the apparel industry. A former IBM executive and owner of a mid-sized apparel manufacturer and importer, Alan moved quickly to guide NGC in developing a number of breakthrough products, including PC-based software for Shop Floor Control, ERP and Global Sourcing. NGC offered something new and distinctive – combining a deep understanding of both technology and the apparel industry – and we’ve been focused on innovation ever since.
Some of the keys to NGC’s long track record in industry innovation include:
- Deep industry experience: All of NGC’s executives, consultants and other professional services personnel had deep experience in the apparel industry before joining NGC. They’ve lived and breathed the apparel industry, which gives them an insider’s perspective on best practices.
- World-class processes: In recent years, NGC has completely redesigned all of our internal processes for support, development and implementation, creating a world-class Professional Services organization. We’re focused on continuous improvement, and we continue to evolve in a very positive way.
- Entrepreneurial drive: A lot has happened in NGC’s 35-year history. Yet as we’ve moved from a start-up to being part of a publicly traded company, we’ve never lost the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Our customers: NGC’s customers have embraced innovation and best practices. Working together, we’ve continuously adapted NGC’s solutions to solve new problems.
