Managing Social and Vendor Compliance

Managing Social and Vendor Compliance

January 17, 2012

When the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act took effect on January 1, it was the latest in a series of legislative initiatives that place new compliance burdens on retailers and brands.

While the Act, also known as SB 657, focuses on helping to eliminate slavery and human trafficking from global supply chains, it's only one of many recent laws and mandates including CPSIA (the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act), new requirements for cadmium testing in children's jewelry and toys, Proposition 65 and product safety regulations.

In response to these initiatives, NGC developed Vendor Compliance software to allows retailers, brands and manufacturers to efficiently manage compliance with these mandates. Part of NGC's Extended PLM software, Vendor Compliance also includes Quality Control, Vendor Scorecarding and Performance Testing functionality that manages the dozens of third-party lab tests that fashion companies typically perform on styles, components and materials.
